Back from Leroy
Back from Leroy
I sent a few pieces to Leroy last month and was surprised to see them in this morning's mail. I tossed in the 1921 VAM 20 discovery piece with the intent of killing it off. Dennis would recall our thread where we found it was a duplicate for VAM 89.
There's a new 1879 Philly VAM 117. I've had the piece for years and finally sent it in - great clashing but no letter transfer.
The 1924-S VAM 1T is something I spotted at the ANA last month.
The medal was also something I picked up in Rosemont. Leroy seemed more interested in that than the dollars I sent. Can't say I blame him.
Here's the letter I sent, and I'll post his letter and plates right after.

Re: Back from Leroy
Hooray a 1921-P kill!
I presume that means 20A becomes 89A?

When in doubt... don't.
Re: Back from Leroy
I just went after VAM 20. As far as I know VAM 20A is an unrelated but similar marriage. As I read it, there's still a 20A but no 20

Re: Back from Leroy
Nice Submission JR and congrats.
That VAM-117 sure has a crapload of clashes alright.
I swear I can see 5 and then sometimes 6 clashes...either way, I start to go cross-eyed when focusing too much on them.

Re: Back from Leroy
Congrats on your new DC's. Do you need any help setting up the new VAM pages?
Re: Back from Leroy
Yes, I'd appreciate all the help I can get. The bare framework for the two pages and their plates would help a great deal. If you feel like doing any more than that, I'll stack the thank you's up.

Re: Back from Leroy
That medal is over 125 yrs old. Far superior to today`s works.
Re: Back from Leroy
I agree with vampicker that VAM 20A was a different die pair than VAM 20, and it isn't related to VAM 89. Since I have an EDS, non-pitted VAM 20A as well, perhaps I may try to resolve their nomenclature at some point...
Congrats, vampicker!

Re: Back from Leroy
New pages have been setup and VAM-20 eliminated. Let me know if I need to make any changes.
Re: Back from Leroy
Multiple thank you's for doing this - again. The 79 VAM 117 is perfect. I made a minor change to the 24 VAM 1T page, but I can't fix the spacing for the remaining plates.
I added a comment to the 21 VAM 89 page about the die marker Van Allen plated. I don't think it's necessary to put the plate he shot up as this marker is visible in one of the existing plates
Thanks again
