1922-D Vam 1U EDS? Or ???

Post by PEACEMAN » Sun Sep 19, 2021 3:57 am

Hello All,
I have been researching through the listed 1922-D Peace Dollars and can't come to a definite answer on this one that I have.
Die break through hair bun to bottom portion of the Y, die break right side of neck going through just below the T trust towards rim with another break back of upper neck attaching to previous mentioned break at the top of v trust. It does not match any listed images but similar to vam 1U. Images included below if can figure how.. or I will post in just a few moments.
Any help is appreciated.

Could be a new listing .. The TRVST crack is new , now LVA would have to say . Does the crack run from neck to rim .
Nice to see you are still here for us to gain more knowledge of the Peace Dollar .

Thanks for the info, I will put under scope tonight and see if crack runs to rim and more specific. You are correct, LVA would ask that... If new listing, should I send coin to?? Or is there another method? Thanks...

Here are a few more images of this coin, not at house to use my good scope, least can see and follow cracks.
Die crack runs across top of TVST to the rim.

I don't see a match for the two cracks shown taking a quick look through the Peace dollar supplements and VW pictures. They're also not strong enough to be considered a die break, so they would not be listable as anything until a later die stage is found. Both locations are very common for die cracks, as you probably discovered while looking through photos.
