1884-O Help?

Post by Woodsy » Sat Sep 04, 2021 9:47 pm

I have an 1884-O with a rusted obverse die I can’t pin down. Reverse has oval MM, but no pitting I can see. Faint clash. Obverse is highly pitted heavily on main device. Threadlike area in lower face/hair junction. Hair and ear look funny with flattening but still with luster and no signs of wear. It’s graded MS63 by NGC. Help!

Post a closeup of the date. I don't see anything at first glance that wolf lead me to an attribution. I think what you're calling a thread-like impression is just a die polishing line.

I have one with the same "swoosh" / die polish line / threadlike impression and I call it VAM-47 - ANACS confirmed it with a slab....
