I have an 1880-S Morgan graded by PCGS MS63 8/7. It looks to be a VAM-8. There is also an anomaly on the reverse on the first L of dollar. Trying to determine if it was a lamination or broken Die error. Any help is appreciated. Leaning towards lamination.

NOT a broken die (they are raised above the normal features of the coin). A strike through (perhaps a chip of wood...).
A strike-thru error caused by debris between the planchet and die when the coin is struck. This debris always leaves a depressed area on the coin. Occasionally, the debris may be retained.
