Someone has overwritten the old v58a and put in the vams eliminated, so no one can tell what the old one was and what it was changed to. Why?

The old VAM-58A page is still there. All you have to do is click on the view history tab and select August 13.

The old 58A was listed as a clashed n. There were several thoughts floating around the old VW discussion board of what VAM the 58A obverse matched. When I found a VAM-70 (single clashed obverse), I checked it against the old 58A (double clashed obverse). It was clear that it was the same obverse and reverse. I also knew that the obverse letter transfer was the old I clash and not the listed n clash. Also the 3AR was the same obv and rev.
Going one step further, I recognized the old 70 obverse as the same as the 24B2.

So I packed up all the coins and sent them to LVA. This lead to a few eliminations including 58A being incorporated into 58. Now a finger feed gouge comes along and so now there is a 58A again. Same, but different.

Hopefully this helps. If you have any questions, please ask.

When i go to vam 58a, I don’t see what it was before. Only the new discovery. I only remember vam 58a for an I clash, not an n clash.

Originally, 58A was listed as a clashed n. It had a double clashed obverse and a single clashed reverse.
VAM-24B had a clashed I. The 24B obverse was then placed with a different reverse. That new die pair had a clashed I obverse, no clash on the reverse, and was listed as VAM-70. When 70 clashed again, it created a double clashed obverse and a single clashed reverse. The clash on the reverse was located at the n. So when it was listed as a new VAM, it was listed as VAM-58A for an n clash.

For years on the old VW, there was speculation of the relationship 58A had with other VAMs.
