Legit 1921-D

Post by madbirder » Fri Jul 02, 2021 4:01 pm

Got this the other day but didn't have my loupe with me to examine it but the PCGS numbers verify it but something about it doesn't ring true. Any thoughts.

Looks fine. What makes you think it's bad?

The first two sets of right leaves (or left as you look at it) are very smooth as is the breast, would have thought that would exclude it from grading that high. Though I have little experience in grading and from what I've seen things I think should be graded higher aren't and things that look worse than their grade aren't. Though there are parameters for grading, it seems to be subjective. Thanks for the reply.

Ditto.
Striking was all over the board on '21s at all 3 Mints.
When in doubt... don't.

Ah, I've not had one like this, only have a few '21s and have only been at this for six months but thanks to all for the info and answers.

VAM on!
