PCGS pop report mystery

Post by DHalladay » Sat Jun 19, 2021 1:58 pm

I know PCGS never makes mistakes but...
what the heck is a 1921 Morgan Cleveland Blue Eagle?? :?

It sounds more like a description for a piece of currency.

I wish they'd buy the pops for promotional labels a bit more, because they add a lot of noise to the pop reports. Something like the show/hide eBay button on CoinFacts. Of course, this goes against the grain of having promotional labels, but other than First Strike™, I seriously doubt anyone has ever intentionally looked for the pops of such a label.

It looks like advertising/self promoting.

Last time the Navy Blue Angels were in Cleveland, one of them confused an eagle which landed in a coin dealer's shop and started pecking at her reflection in a PL Morgan dollar 1881-S VAM 11-2/3rd.

Betting this is a typo and the ten pieces are actually dated 2021. I'll leave the merits of the Cleveland Blue Eagle labels up to people that actually trade in moderns.

A separate pop listing for labels? Seriously?
Where is the emoji for total disgust?...

So it actually is random BS? Mr Cleveland had absolutely nothing to do with the Morgan Dollar by almost a century.

When consumers purchase labels instead of coins, merchants will supply labels instead of coins.
My opinion of the American consumer is so low that I believe Miley Cyrus labels would sell well.
