1896-O V28, New V28A/28B

Post by LateDateMorganGuy » Tue May 04, 2021 11:53 pm

Leroy seems to be back into production mode. I waited to send these to him for a long while, and coincidence was that it went into the mail just days before his current loss. I-2? Guess I overrated the find.

I posted the two photos of mine a long while back, but they are included here since they seem to be better than the VAM Plates.

I wonder if I-2 was an auto-pilot move. It does seem more interesting that most, especially given it's known in two earlier die stages without the pitting and gouge.

Congratulations on your new VAM finds Alan. The 1896 O is a date and mintmark that only has a few listings compared to other dates. Obtaining 1896-O to VAM is difficult as most available coins are heavily circulated, beat up and tarnished. The ones that aren't command a significant premium which is why I feel there are so few listings.

Congrats on your discoveries. I had what I thought was a V28, I sent it to LVA and it is now V31.

Love the long gouge. I wonder if it changes the pronunciation of 'one'.
