OT: 1857 Mexico Republic 8 reales
A typical for 8 Reales Mexico Republic, the dies look messed-up to begin with. This one however is beyond that imo.
Obverse rim to rim die crack with retained cud at the top portion. Reverse rotated about 40 degree CW. What I'm wondering is rotated reverse for this series rare or not?

The dies have a great hand made character to them. Love how uneven the date is. That rim to rim break is pretty damn cool. Die rotations on the Mexican branch mints are somewhat common, but still kinda neat. Great piece!

Their legal tender status dates back to the creation of the United States. The Spanish colonial 8 reales or milled dollars were typically good silver of a fairly standard fineness and weight. The were accepted in commerce almost universally. Many of the notes of the Continental Congress were denominated in Spanish milled dollars. These coins and their successors from an independent Mexico were far more plentiful and available than many of the early US issues. There was far more silver mined in Mexico and South America until the Comstock Lode hit. Not long afterward the US started cranking out Morgan Dollars.

Rim to rim die breaks are listed as "Split Die" where field displacement shows. Great eye appeal on large silver coin and
uncommon error on silver dollar size coins! Congrats on your "Error Pick".
