Back from LVA, 6 New & 1 Revision w/questions

Post by jrfaust » Wed Apr 28, 2021 2:44 pm

Hello all, got these back from the Master last Friday. Super happy with the results! :D
6 New Dark Siders! 2 of the Peace$ are re-sends that were a little to toned for LVA to get good pics, so I cleaned them up a bit and they both came back as New VAMs (YAY!)

The 1880 O is a bit confusing for me.... Leroy believes it to be a VAM 57 and I sent it to him as a VAM 39 with unlisted breaks at Date and AMER. According to the 39 VAM page my coin has the same reverse. I understand that 39 and 57 have the same Obverse. Leroy states " Not 39 which has same obv but C3H rev with small 1 O mm set high and tilted right" Mine matches this description. I've highlighted Leroy's description and comments. Let me know what I'm missing.

Wayne, could you set up the pages for the 6 new Peace VAMs and I'll email you the plate photos if that's ok :?: ( there are a lot of plate photo's!) Hold off on the 1880 O revision till we get that sorted out and as always thanks soooooooo much for what you do!

Here's the discovery doc and a photo of the reverse of the 1880 O mm for comments....Thanks my Friends!
Enjoy! :D

Wayne, thanks for creating all the New VAM pages :D While getting the plate photos and such ready for you, I discovered that the VAM 2FN is really a VAM 2CM with unlisted collar clash. I think LVA just missed my comments that this was in fact a VAM 2CM with unlisted Collar Clash.
Here's what I originally sent to him.

#8 1922 P **
REV: VAM 2CM with Collar Clash from O in ONE up to U in UNITED.

I think with all that's going on in his life, he just missed my comment. I don't know how he keeps things straight without all the stressful issues in his life.

Anyway, could you delete the VAM 2FN page and I'll send the 1880 O and this 22 P 2CW back to Leroy for some clarification.
Here's a couple pics of my coin and it clearly show the 2CM Break at O-F

I'm concerned with removing pages from VAMWorld about listed VAMs that have never been de-listed by Leory Van Allen. It is true that there are duplicated VAMS, but a note in the comment section to that effect would suffice. If we decide by proxy which VAMs should be posted to the SSDC webpage or registry, then the published information becomes unclear and the yearly updates become meaningless.

Just my opinion.

BigBub, I totally agree with you! But, in this particular case, the one in question was created and removed the same day. I knew it was not a true "New Discovery". The 1922 P VAM 2FN is really a VAM 2CM with unlisted Collar Clash. VAM 2FN doesn't really exist. Both the the 1880 O (VAM 57 Revision) and the 1922 P VAM 2FN are going back to LVA for another look and more clarification. :)
Hope all that made sense?

Jody :D
