With similar striations on the wreath etc., my guess would be a problem with the planchet.

I’ve seen a number of morgans like this, including one that pcgs bagged. Didn’t look like a problem coin to me, rather a problem with something else.

The coin resides in a PCGS (Green) MS65 holder. It is also clearly a VAM23.

Could it be that what you are seeing is light bounce off striations on the inside of the holder in the plastic and not on the coin?

Thought so. This is an artifact of the holder. You might be able to polish it down a bit.

it has to be. ive seen MANY holders that have lines like that showing through from imaging. always older holders. don't recall the specific generation(s).
thought i had a monster first time i saw it.
