Took a stroll through the grove for old times sake...

Post by impairedsquirrel » Wed Apr 14, 2021 10:04 pm

Found me a few acorns along the way, so I took some crappy pics of a couple PUPs to post for y’all. Good on ya if you can figure these out! ;)

Nice fur date, Mr. Squirrel.... and I bet the seller of those RU less 88o's is wondering why half of his listings went quick and the rest of them are still awaiting buyers.... Awaiting the 2 that I grabbed for my collEction.

Thanks Jon, good eyes!
That was a very interesting group. I wish I woulda got one of the later ones with only the partial filled "r", because the obverse break also seemed to advance quickly on those. Are either of yours that stage?

Rob.... My 2 examples arrived today - they look just like your examples. I do have an MS 63 with the late die crack, don't remember offhand what the R in Trust looked like. Will have to look at it next time I swing by the bank.

Sweet JK, congrats! Is the obverse crack as noticeable through the hair as it appeared in the listings? I think the crack should have a glob right before it reaches Anna's hair, which would make them late enough to be 1a3's...

Rob, I checked my PCGS MS 63 which has the break and die chip and is VAM 1a3. It looks like the reverse photo on the 1a3 page / has the light R in trust, the U is full.

One of mine has the R and U gone, the other 2 have a full U and the R is light, but fully there.
The last two appear to be the 1A3.
