1921 Peace Dollar With Possible “Extra Hair” Die Break
1921 Peace Dollar With Possible “Extra Hair” Die Break
Hi, I’m a new member with an interesting Peace dollar. It’s in a PCGS Generation 3.1 holder (1993-1998) graded AU53. Although the central portion of the hair is weakly struck, there is a raised area resembling the “extra hair” seen on some other dates. A smaller detached area is present at the front edge of the hair. I did not see anything like it in the list of 1921 VAMS. Thoughts and input appreciated.

looks like unusual damage from the pic where you can see the whole obverse. with the neck taking a hit i would really lean towards a damaged but graded coin. almost thought counterfeit but didn't want to jump to conclusions.

i would lean towards a strike thru in a weakly struck area of the coin. i have a 1922 and 1923 with similar struck thru appearances on the reverse. not damaged.
