1900 O/CC VAM 11A Question
I am going through a few 1900 O/CC's and have run across one that appears to be a VAM 11A TED. Only one image and not much information about it available on this site. What is the rarity of this particular variant? Any more so than the VAM 11? It seems like of all the variations 11 is the most common one, just wondering if 11A is a EDS of the same pair. I see it was only discovered in 2018.

Re: 1900 O/CC VAM 11A Question
i did just notice 11A is not listed as a top 100 among the other O/CC variants???
Re: 1900 O/CC VAM 11A Question
VAM 11A is a later die stage of VAM 11. It does count as a Top 100 coin. We don't really know how rare it is in comparison to VAM 11. as the transition from VAM 11 to VAM 11A is a gradual one. There is likely no premium for one over the other.

Re: 1900 O/CC VAM 11A Question
Thank you for the info. Has any additional research been put into 11A that you are aware of? Do you know if there are any addition pictures of it anywhere?
Re: 1900 O/CC VAM 11A Question
Leroy has the 11 at an R4 and the 11A at an R6 on the rarity scale. The 11A is without question more rare than the 11. The first TED crack is visible around the clash event of vam 11 but does not qualify for a break until VLDS. I think R6 is appropriate on rarity.

I would say it’s a Vam 11 but it’s hard to say for sure just from the photo. Looks like a crack more than a break.

I am going to put some images of my new one up. I think it is either EDS 11 or possibly 11A, but hard to tell.

Re: 1900 O/CC VAM 11A Question
i have seen many, many "vam 11a's". i don't think it is an r6. it is so easily identifiable by the length and strength of the break. it is also the stage that the counterfeiters copied when they made the reverse for a number of "privately made' dollars.
Re: 1900 O/CC VAM 11A Question
The crack transgression to a break happened slowly. Plenty of Vam 11’s out there with the crack but much less with a true field break.
