1889 VAM-1 question
1889 VAM-1 question
This 1889 Morgan displays a normal date, closed 9, die chip 8, rt wing clash, ear dbl but I see two round clash marks at the wreath leaves. Does this change things? from a 1 to what? Your insight is needed. Peace Roy

Re: 1889 VAM-1 question
Since the coin has a double ear it will not be a VAM-1. Check the double ear attribution guide.
Re: 1889 VAM-1 question
@PacificWR thanks for the hint, looks to be 47. Is that correct? So the rev clashes are not in play? Roy
Re: 1889 VAM-1 question
VAM-47 is correct. The clashes only come into play if there is letter transfer. However, clashes, die cracks can be used to track die states. Good job.
