1888-O VAM-31

Post by Namvet69 » Tue Feb 09, 2021 1:12 am

Found 11 Morgans from my 1960's youth when I could walk into a Manhattan bank with bucks worth of rerolled cents and get a silver dollar. The crumbling die rev lead me to the rest of the markers. Am I correct? Peace Roy

The only marker that is different is a gouge or strike thru under E in Liberty. I couldn't find that anywhere. Thanks

@impairedsquirrel thanks for looking, it sure looks like that gouge is under the E cause the E central incuse design is intact. I don't have enough knowledge to determine further. Setting that marker aside, do you think this is a 31? Peace Roy

That’s why I believe it is damage. The E is incuse and the hit didn’t go deep enough to effect the basin of it.
