Congrats, what a tuff set to complete in mint state.

I am impressed and it's informative to see the set in the flesh. Thanks. Peace Roy

Thanks everyone. It is definitely a challenging set to complete, and especially in mint state. In my roughly 8 years of looking, I can say that v100, 101 and 102 are the toughest. Never seen another v100 or v101 besides of what I have in hand. Only seen another v102, but it was a detailed raw xf-ish.

I am totally flummoxed - how can this be - an entire set that has completely missed my radar! I do not have a example of ANY of them. CONGRATULATIONS! Nice job on a sweet little set. I have got to keep my eye out for these little treasures!

Another 1879-S little set that is equally or may even rarer is the "Gouge in bow" set. Consist of VAM-16A, 65, 75 and 80.

bah! Humbug! you beat me to it. i have been searching for a v100 every since i missed buying the vam 100 discovery piece by hours. or was it minutes? i have found multiple 99, and 102's. only 1 101. and several v29, including the one from you(and none of them are gradeable). and your comment about the v16a, v65, v75, and vam 80 is another interesting set. the 16a has the obverse of 34b, 57, 77, 77a, 83, and my other one that leroy still hasn't assigned a number to i now have 2 of them, but both are too low of a grade for him to list them, he wants something north of xf). you have a big advantage being out west. lots of s mints out there. i managed to put together my 1879s set being stuck out east, and many of mine were problem coins.
