So, I don't know who got the bargain.. I liked it at $17000. But the coin and the holder grade don't match IMHO... Seems like a 64 and maybe even a stretch for that.. But that is going by pictures...and again, someone may have hit a HOME RUN. For a little over $20K that is by far the best price on a 65...
There's a discussion on the BST about it. For Heritage pictures, I prefer their slab shots to others. Their glam shots are consistently way too contrasty and tend to make the coin look a grade lower than it is. I haven't viewed enough of their coin videos to learn them well yet. On a guess-the-grade, I'd probably hem and haw about going 64 or 65 on this one, and the sale price seems to bear that out. I do think I like it better than the NGC 64 CAC that sold at Long Beach 5 years ago, but again, that's judging only from slab shots taken 5 years apart.
