1898-O VAM-5 Page

The images on the page are for a VAM-27A. Some of them are old ones of mine, before the later ones were discovered. Some might be okay, but the large coin is definitely 27A as well as the bit about the unique cracks.

It looks like there's a lot of wrong information on the VAM 5 page. All the pictures are really VAM 27. The VAM 27 page says it's the same die pair as VAM 5, but that might be only because there are VAM 27 pictures on the VAM 5 page. The VAM 5 spec is only for the mint mark position, and I'll have to check the VAM book later to see if any of the mint mark photos are a match for that. Probably what should happen is all the close-ups from the VAM 5 page should go to the VAM 27 page. It seems the 27A is a legit die stage, since I don't see the gouge on the first picture of the 1 on the VAM 5 page. VAM 5 may end up being an empty nest for all we know.

I agree and my 5 is now a 27.

This is actually reaching into VAM 16, too, as it shares an obverse with VAM 27. VAM 12 also seems to come into play. I've updated the pages for VAM 5, 27, and 27A.
