VAM 12, maybe. Look more closely at the 2nd 8.

What's a Cracket Bonnet?
When in doubt... don't.

The mm matches VAM-12, maybe the coin is a late die stage of VAM-12 where the bonnet "cracked" (cracketed) and some file lines were cleaned up, is my best guess, for today. So, "RAW MS63 VAM-12-mbg" it is.

Camera is screwed, shooting fully closed, can't open the aperature wider, doesn't hold a focus, most photos here are out of focus. I think the heat builds up and affects the sensor.

Good match for the VAM 12. The "long die break" really locks her in and I suspect would be easier to get listed. =The bonnet crack is really common and does not warrant listing but if you get displaced fields - LVA will list those. I have a total of 14 of these with varying degrees of cracking - from none to what looks like a great match for yours (not enough to call displacement).

In my opinion, if you're going to look for listings from displaced field breaks, you should have to send in one without the break to demonstrate that it might actually be worth listing. Distinction without a difference is not something that should be in the catalog.

fogie says he has 14 with the bonnet break, says it is well known, should maybe then get a photo of a bonnet break and add it to the VAM-12 listing to show the die state or stage. Please don't use my photo, it isn't clear.

fogie says "Good match for the VAM 12. The "long die break" really locks her in and I suspect would be easier to get listed." But I have a 1898-0 VAM-16 with a nearly identical long break at that right hand obverse side, cutting through the hair in the same location.

Messydesk: "In my opinion, if you're going to look for listings from displaced field breaks..." No, I am just trying to identify the VAM and thought the breaks might help in the process, but even with the bonnet break being common and known, apparently (ask fogie, he has "fourteen" VAM-12's with the bonnet break to different degrees), it is not documented (no photographs posted in the listing) and therefore makes it exceedingly difficult for me to VAM the coin.
