Tried the rose thorn method
Recent find was all gummed up, but thought I knew what it was based on date position. A little acetone soak and the gentle use of the thorn exposed this 91o VAM.

Good intuition and nice work! PIty that the Space Invader clash always seems to have a hit on it, no matter where it ends up.

Dang!
That's a good catch. I've yet to see one in person.
Congrats.

Great find! You wouldn't happen to have a before photo of the gummed up area? I am debating using some acetone on a coin. How long was that acetone soak for? Looks like it worked well.lured_in_again wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 8:50 pmRecent find was all gummed up, but thought I knew what it was based on date position. Soaked about 2 days, then lightly used a Q-tip on it. The rose thorn helped take the remaining stubborn goop out of the date area. I should have done a closeup of the date prior to the soak.

Thanks for sharing lured_in_again. I will give your method a try.
Re: Tried the rose thorn method
I have a garment cleaned much like the one pictured here and I love it. DO NOT spray yourself - it (at least the 1 I have) will shoot water through the skin and leave you with a water blister (can not be good 4 u - esp. if it is tap water....).
Re: Tried the rose thorn method
Most interesting! It is not heated? I played with something like that in my sisters store once....seems like I remember getting burned with the thing; not just a blister.fogie wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 12:47 amI have a garment cleaned much like the one pictured here and I love it. It is difficult for me to remember to photograph the b/4 treatment photo. Something more for me to work on.
Would you happen to have any before/after photos of any coin treated with your textile cleaner method?
Thanks for sharing.
