My thoughts about FUN 2021
My thoughts about FUN 2021
I’d love to go; my favorite show; often find a hole or two to fill; get to connect with friends and fellow collectors; VAM thing is great as are the educational seminars. Orlando is a great venue. But, unless I can a COVID vaccination, I will be sitting on the sidelines. I really think it’ll be Feb before widely distributed. Until then with work and acknowledging I’m not a spring chicken, will have to look towards 2022. 2021 has been a good year from a collecting standpoint though. Take care and stay safe! May the best person get the after shave!

I made my decision back in April... 2022 at the earliest for me.
When in doubt... don't.

I can't wait, personally. Just hoping it's not canceled last minute.

I'm still a few weeks off from deciding. Would love to go, but have to keep an eye on the cooties situation.

Re: My thoughts about FUN 2021
I'm hoping I can make it but Ohio is spiking hard. I am not doing a 14 day quarantine just to do a show, even this one. Flying in and out of Orlando doesn't help matters either. It sucks because I have three separate presentations to do - my list for 2021, the SSDC awards and I was going to discuss the 89 VAM 23A. Like JB, there's still a couple of weeks left before I have to commit one way or the other.

Re: My thoughts about FUN 2021
I am currently in Orlando at my house for T-Day. Was going to head back to St. Louis after that, but our office in St. Louis shutdown again due to the surge. So I am in Orlando until at least the first of the year. If the FUN Show actually happens, and my office stays shutdown, I may actually make the show. But who knows. Seems like a VAM dinner is iffy as well.
Re: My thoughts about FUN 2021
This virus has a particularly vigorous presence in asymptomatic people - the "Typhoid Marys" who seem entirely normal until contact tracing shows a path of disease. It requires just one of these people in a crowd to expel a fog of virus that can catch anyone not wearing a good (N95) mask and taking reasonable precautions.
With people coming from many locations to a single coin show locus, that becomes a de facto disease distribution site.
Coin shows will return. If you die from Covid-19 you will not return.

I'm just throwing this out there, virtual 2021?...
I'm sure I won't be in Orlando this January, grooming a new employer!!!

Maybe the after slave could chase the virus off or kill it .

I am planning to attend, although it appears that both dealer and public attendance will be reduced. For those who do attend, expect a mask mandate fro dealers and public. As was mentioned above, a dinner may not happen.
The show will go on unless cancelled by the county, which I don't see happening as the theme parks are being allowed to continue to operate.

Re: My thoughts about FUN 2021
While not applicable to FUN, for later coins shows, keep in mind that a vaccine will likely be available to anyone who wants it by May, sooner if enough people have reservations about it. For those who question the value of the vaccine, the virus likely represents a higher risk than does the vaccine.
