Just finished a die study of the 1894-S series. It appears that the VAM-1A Worm Eye obverse was hijacked and paired with three different reverse dies. The gouge at eagle's 6-7 lower tail feathers is only present on one of the reverses. Check your Worm Eye's for the correct reverse. There are two new listings available to anyone that wants one.

Re: Amber Alert - 1894S Worm Eye
Wow. Definitely different reverse dies. What a bizarre date for that too.

Re: Amber Alert - 1894S Worm Eye
RD1 is the one with the gouge at 6-7 lower tail feathers and is a single use die.
RD6 is a late die state reverse where a gouge on the EDS has been polished down. See below. This reverse die was used with 3 different obverse dies.
RD13 is a single use die.
There was a LOT of die incest at the SF Mint for Morgan dollars in 1894.
All 3 reverse dies with the Worm Eye obverse are readily available. Cracks that develop on all three reverse dies are different and confirm the different dies.
