1885-o VAM-2 Early Die State? IS an EDS with more Pictures

Post by jgrinz » Fri Aug 28, 2020 1:59 pm

I am trying to decipher if this coin is an Early Die State
The pictures for a VAM-2 show parts of the arrow heads - Not quite seeing
what they describe as a scratch. I believe the doubling is there...
Thoughts

It does look like a VAM 2, and I do think it would be EDS. I think the die scratch is referring to the one noted below.

You can see this die scratch even in later die states, so it's not really an EDS indicator. The doubling of the arrowheads sort of fades over time.

More pictures of my EDS but it looks like there are quite a few on the page already HOWEVER I do have a Wing gap picture that looks as though it is also indicative of an EDS coin. Feel free to use any of these as you will.
Thanks for your help

The crispness of the denticles are those of a fairly fresh die.
