Sept 9 - 53, Not the 1926 date on the coin....
Looked it up on google and can only find a bank opening
in the midwest.

Could be anything, but would have had to have been important enough to make a special punch. It doesn't look like individually punched characters. Wedding party favors, a grand opening of something as you suggested, corporate event, could be anything.

The date could have something to do with THE Korean War . Unit coming home from the war .
