Back from LEROY - New 1921 P VAM 1AC3
New 1921 P VAM 1AC3 D 1 Reverse with unlisted field breaks at 3 - 6 right stars & UM plus slight break at A in STATES.
1923 D VAM 1BF Revised with EDS of listed die break at rim above N. Also, has unlisted displaced field break at Y in LIBERTY.
Submitted an uncirculated 1923 D VAM 1AO1 for REVIEW by LVA in order to possibly settle the question of die gouges vs. clash marks at rear of tiara band. SUCCESS !! Leroy, did in fact confirm, "HAS to be gouges since occur in Liberty head design recesses on die & not flat fields where clashes occur."
Will someone please edit page on the 1923 D VAM 1AO1 to show that the marks in question are indeed "DIE GOUGES". ?
Will someone please help in updating the Page on New 1921 P VAM 1AC3 and Revision 1923 D VAM 1BF ?

Congratulations Roger!
And rats! Yet another new coin is needed for the '21-P date set.
Does your new discovery still have heavy die polishing around STATES that is seen on 1AC2 ?

When in doubt... don't.

WTG Roger .. Playing both sides of the fence .. Keep that Dennis guy working on those 1921 Morgan's .
Re: Back from LEROY - New 1921 P VAM 1AC3
Yes, there is heavy die polishing around STATES that is still crisp and sharp. Displaced field above A
is developing a break on top of A to right and diagonal die crack bisects denticle to rim. Discovery piece is already housed in ANACS MS 62 holder.

Re: Back from LEROY - New 1921 P VAM 1AC3
I'm looking hard at my 1AC2 and trying to figure out what the difference is between it and 1AC3.
Then again, I attributed it long before there was a 1AC3.
But after further loupe time, I've decided to stick with 1AC2. The key cracks just aren't as severe as on your 1AC3, and I can't squint enough to see displaced field breaks.

Thanks Roger.
Mine has the cracks (and very sweet die polishing at STATES), but it just doesn't have the displaced fields.
