A little background to how I got here and please jump fwd to the TLDR...

About a year ago my aunt had passed to me through my Mother 2 tins of coins. The lions share were Wheaties. However there was also a small amount of "Junk Silver". They went to the back of my closet and was not given a 2nd thought.

-------------------------- TLDR -----------------------

FFWD about 6 months or so and say hello to COVID. Being able to work from gave me a little more spare time (no travel yay!) so I started watching random videos. One was about people buying random silver lots. Which then reminded me about my coin tins.

The pennies are meh as a lot of them have verdigris but wiuth some distilled water and a little/light rubbing some of them are being taken care of.

There was also silver and at this time (silver price) is worth about $300.

But then I got to seeing various "errors" about coins, be it pennies, nickles, half dollars etc. I mean there is a LOT of information some of it bad (cleaning pennies with toilet cleaner.... yes I did but I ensured they were "worthless" I told you lots of free time) some of it good. However there is a LOT of it.

Ive tried to ingest it all... and quite frankly it is overwhelming. Chips, dies, cracks in dies, etc and so forth. Im still not getting a lot of it.

------------------------TLDR---------------------------

So Ive been going through ALL my change to include the silver my aunt gave me. I bought a usb/microscope and decided to check the silver.

I didnt see anything (that I could) spectacular except the below and have posted it it and was told I may want to post it here:

Thank you for looking and I will be thankful with any feedback. Just in case, it is the (what I assume), is the die chip near/above the eye.

If raised, have you tried poking it with a stick?

It looks indented based on the lighting in the full-coin picture, making me think it's struck through something. Close-up picture is a little ambiguous.

This might have been amenable to a poll. I am not used to the lighting trickery of scanners. The sharpness of the borders, it seems to me, preclude struck-through for grease. I doubt PMD because I see no evidence of roll up. I am betting on debris. But I am not giving up weight.

Yeah, I use a toothpick. A light poke to see if it moves is enough. It could be retained scrap. It doesn't look like it was actually in the die itself to me.

Funny, after I wrote that; I headed to Google and Duck Duck Go to assess just how esoteric "giving up weight" might be. We are in the midst of an obesity epidemic. Thus, weight loss dominates the search results. I have squandered much of my life in pool halls. To give up weight means that you will pay less than your opponent if you lose a bet. If you win, I will pay 10; if I win, you will pay 5. Another way to adjust weight is by games on the string. In the context that I used it above; I am only willing to bet even money. This is a measure of my confidence that the mark is debris. By the way, my time in pool halls was well spent, not squandered.

In the close-up, the light is too harsh and direct. Try softer lighting a little off to the side. Depending on what you're using to take the picture, this might be difficult.

The shadows on the full coin image dictate that it's incuse, not raised.
I have numerous identical looking grease strike thru's.
When grading, I saw hundreds of similar specimens.

Poked at it with a toothpick. It is indeed a "hole".

Thanks everyone. I may pull out the silver dollars I have and look at them again.
