1900 S Silver Dollar
1900 S Silver Dollar
A 1900 S Dollar in my collection has resisted my efforts to attribute a VAM designation to it. Below are some digital images. Trust they may be of help in getting it fully attributed. All comments, opinions, etc., welcome.

Re: 1900 S Silver Dollar
Maybe VAM 17. Hard to tell, though.
Welcome to the VAMWorld 2.0 discussion boards. R.I.P. old VAMWorld.
Re: 1900 S Silver Dollar
Thank you messydesk for your quick response to my post. It appears you are correct. The obverse image on the VAM
Web-page of VAM17 is slightly out of focus and when magnified does not give the proper resolution to see the doubling (tripling?) of the ‘1’ under the upper crossbar or the surface doubling at the bottom.
It also fails to show the die chip at the inside lower right of the upper loop; there is also die doubling at the inside top of the upper loop, but, it can only be viewed at a steep angle and my equipment is not able to show it (none of the above is mentioned in the VAM17 description).
The most revealing for me, is the reverse, whose die cracks align exactly with those on my coin, as do the mintmark and the rest of the devices.
Thanks again for the eagle eye and fast response. I can finally put this one to bed.
Best regards,
SRS

For the 1900-S series the important things to remember are the date position, reverse type, mint mark type and die cracks. Listed below is a link to the attribution guides. The guides are in the process of being updated. In the future there will be Hi-Def photo's for this series.
