Is the poem online somewhere or only in his book?

This was a good Josh Gates show a year or so back

Checked the article and several online newspapers and it look's like he is keeping it a secret.

He did it primarily for 2 reasons..

1) to get people off their phones and out of their house so they can connect with nature and detox from modern tech life for a bit.

2) To give people a little hope and something to do. Remember, in 2010 we were in the thick of the economic crisis.

Over the years he grappled with it though and many times he contemplated calling it off and going and getting it himself because person after person kept dying trying to find it.

I must say though, kudos to him. He became a legend by simply putting a million bucks worth of gold, coins & antiques in a box, creating a cryptic map and telling the whole world to have at it. Amazing..

@CascadeChris I completely agree with you. People die out here in the desert all the time. They go off trail in Joshua Tree and that's it. Gets so hot that dogs can't track them.🐍

It will be months before anything more is published -- only after the TV production is complete. A savvy producer could get a couple of seasons of shows out of just the finder's attempts. Add in all the others and it could be several years of "imitation drama."

Not a cynical comment - just contemporary reality.

Some are already in PCGS rattlers. It looks like most of the gold is in the form of nuggets, and we're not talking about a large number of coins. I'm sure if the finder comes forward, most likely through a dealer, the TPGs will be ready with packaging proposals. It wouldn't surprise me if they already have mock-up labels ready.

Here's an article about someone who claims to have known where it was, but didn't get around to claiming it in time. It also contains his interpretation of the clues.

I was lucky and caught the Josh Gates re-run of this treasure from, I think, 2018. Amazing old guy. He certainly got what he wanted, a bunch of people getting up, going outdoors and walking around marveling at nature. He's still kicking..Good for him.🐍

Not that I was looking for it, but 1st time I have come across one of the pieces up for sale. (my usual search of 1891 date) Since it is buy it now, no harm posting it? Seller has several of the items listed, just thought it interesting as a couple years have passed since the treasure was found. Looks like NGC was the holder of choice. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334677408428?h ... SweRZjpzkk
