1922 D VAM 2O2 VLDS
I picked up This 1922 D VAM 2O2 at a B&M today. It has an unlisted die break from the R in Liberty to the rim, Has anyone else seen one of these? Is it worth a future trip to Sidney? All comments welcomed.

I say send it to LVA .. The metal displacement is strong . IT is a break not a crack .
Nice coin . I would not left it behind , good pick ..

Now I feel better. Thanks for confirming my feelings about the coin. The dealer knew he had something special and I had to ante up a bit to bring it home.

That is a nice break.

Re: 1922 D VAM 2O2 VLDS
Great find !!! Congrats - Break has widened at rim above T considerably. Nice displaced field break below
R. This particular VAM has a unique verticle die break at left side of Y to rim.
I had one graded in 2018 that received AU 58 grade in ANACS holder VAM 2 'O' 2 .
By the way, Larry Briggs, discovery person, has been designated co-author of the "CHERRYPICKERS' GUIDE"
according to John Frost - President of Barber Coin Collectors' Society.
Looks like a candidate for Leroy !
Correction - I was told Larry Briggs is co-editor of the "CHERRYPICKERS' GUIDE".

Re: 1922 D VAM 2O2 VLDS
Thanks guys. I will send it to Leroy when he is ready to start receiving coins again.
Roger I didn't know that about Larry Brigg's. It would be great if his influence gives VAM's a boost in the Cherry Pickers Guide.

Actually, Larry is listed as editor, not co-author, but that's a pretty influential position. Starting with the Top 100 VAMs book release in 1996, the CPG has lost influence with VAM collectors, although many interesting VAMs are put in it to gain more widespread interest among variety collectors in general. As for having influence over the content of the guide from the perspective of a VAM specialist being a co-author, I invite you to read about CPG co-author Bill Fivaz in the VAMMaster bio section of the SSDC award page.bjsilverfox wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 2:34 pmThanks guys. Regarding this coin, I seldom recommend new die crack and break stages to go to Leroy, but this would be an exception. I would recommend you also send a VAM 2O2 as currently specified if you have one, and maybe even a VAM 2O1. If you don't have one, borrow one. Leroy will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks John for the affirmation of my coin and putting me on to the VAMMASTER bio section. I liked the read about Bill Fizaz and the rest of the pioneers of our hobby.

I was too. So you would agree with the consensus to send it to Leroy?vamsterdam wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 5:15 pmI was kinda shocked when i saw how big the break was from the t. I have had a few of these but not like that!
