My 1881 O FLAKY EYE

Post by bhinkle » Sat May 02, 2020 7:31 am

I have a nice ungraded 1881 O, vam 1D 'flaky eye',
that I found online, awhile back.
It is no where near, as nice as Dennis's great
PCGSMS64PL find, but I was pretty excited, when I
saw the wavy lines, in the eye and clicked the BIN.
I had also noticed the neck and the spike, on the
inside,of the top loop, of the first 8, about 11 o'clock.
I was so proud of it, I put it in a Coin World holder.
Enjoy, Bert

Great pick! Looks uncirculated MS62ish.
I may not be the best, but I do not know anyone better.

I don't think I have ever heard an explanation for the neck item. I always thought it looked like a feather. But it is on all of them to a greater or lesser degree, so on the die.

Bunny would have called it "Black Eye". As in what a rodent needs weekly.

I was (and still am) a fan of "Flaming Devil Eye".
When in doubt... don't.
