VAM 60 Long Nock pixs
Seeing the thread "Wrong VAM Attribution Beware" on the BST about an 1878-S Long Nock made me get out my VAM 60 and take some photos. It's a higher grade (XF45) so there were several interesting things to see.
The 2 eye spikes, of course, get most of the attention. But how come no one ever talks about the 3 chips (?) that are also there?
The diagonal line inside the bow also seems to get ignored:
Ditto for the line behind the eagle's neck:
The BIG line just above the eagle's talon is really impressive, but there are 2 other lines by the left leg that are pretty bold too:

When in doubt... don't.

Would be cool if those could get added to the V60 page.

Those three chips are also on Vam 26 Stage 1 (EDS) and Vam 57.
Vam 26 Stage 1 also has an additional polish line in front of the eye ball aimed at P.
It can be seen on higher grade (AU) Devices.
See the presentation FUN 2019.

Superfine photos. Darnfine specimen. Great information.

Dennis,
That's an extraordinary VAM and beautiful pics!!!
If you ever get the time, I'd love to see the whole coin obv/rev and any other features you care to point out. This is one on my favorite VAMs on par with the 78-P VAM-9 but so rare I'll probably never have one, especially at this grade.
Thanks,
Bobby
