SSDC Admin Request

Post by lioncutter » Sat Apr 04, 2020 3:22 pm

Could one of the fine gentlemen who run the SSDC Registry insert a new broken mintmark VAM into the Broken Mintmark list? It is the 1902-O VAM 26B.
THANKS for all that you do.

Looks like it took a post-Mint hit. Other coins do not seem to have but a normal O.

He's talking about the diagonal crack that either runs through, or to and out, the mm J..

I kind of see that faintly on the detail shot on the VAM page too, which was obviously from a different coin. I will add it and, like any other such request, it can be modified if consensus says so. actually looked at the page anyway to make sure it was not a reverse that was used on any other VAMs, as the slot for such sets would put all such candidates together.

Yes, it does have a post-mint hit on the mintmark. You have amazing eyes to see that on that image. :)

Thanks Mitch!
What is interesting about the crack is that it starts out as kind of a ovaloid coming from the ribbon area then turns into a crack going over to the mintmark. I don't think I have seen one like that before. Mitch's pic shows that somewhat.
