A buddy of mine that owns a local shop gave this to me today. He got it in a buyout and knew I would want it. Um, yeah! Goes well with my matching latest edition. Guess I'm buying lunch
So is this a 1st edition? There is a similar one on Ebay but seller calls it a 2nd ed... Bonus points, can you name the red book its laying on??

Nice. Looks like you picked up the Newcomb large cent book. Is that edition still hand-written?

Sure is JB. Grabbed these for a little light bathroom reading as well...

So this is a first edition correct? Also, how often does the large leather bound version come to market? Anyone track those?

If the Newcomb book is a "deluxe" leather one, that's extra nice. The Breen book needs to be referenced in light of Breen's propensity for passing the boundaries of sound research practices, but is still interesting.

JB, the Newcomb is not leather bound so I dont think it's the deluxe edition. I was talking about the Top-100 books that were 9"x11" or something like that and leather bound. I remember reading somewhere, or being told by Mike or Jeff, that they made 100 of them as collectors editions and wondering if they ever come up for sale. Also, is mine above a 1st edition?
About Breen, yeah, I know full well to take his words with a grain of salt. And his, um, proclivities. Haven't read it yet though so thought I should.

Pretty sure the fake leather plastic cover job you have is a first edition. I have a copy of the larger format hardbound 'Top 100' and it states it is a second edition limited to 100 copies. There are pictures of Fey and Oxman signing stacks of 1st editions the day before they were released and they look just like your copy minus the plastic.
About the only chance a collector would have of acquiring a copy of the second edition is a book auction from a firm like Kolbe & Fanning

Thanks JR. I remember Mike telling me the stories of the days surrounding its release. Must have been a very fun time for them. I figured the larger limited edition is a unicorn in the market. Would be nice to have one though..
