1924 Unknown VAM, die chip at neck-jaw line

Post by Pareidoliac » Sun Jan 26, 2020 8:03 pm

Searching 1924 VAM list, I was unable to find one with this die chip at the neck-jaw intersection. I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you.

Thanks CascadeChris. I appreciate the reply. Looks like the die gouge of the 23-P V-11 is much lower and closer to the WE.

Is this a possible submission to Leroy later in the year?

Dunno. Maybe @colwillys or @davidkclose will chime in.

I've seen this before, currently not listed. It is similar to VAMs 1J, 1AD, 1AE, but smaller. It may be worth a trip to Leroy (in mid-March, see another thread about holding off for now), please post his response if you send it.

The later die state of this obverse has a radial die crack below I of LIBERTY, I cannot tell whether or not your coin has it. If the die crack shows displacement (mine does not), then it is certainly listable, even if Leroy doesn't list it for the die chip on the upper neck.
