Ever wonder what GSA workers did on their breaks from sorting massive amounts of coins? Well, this short & curly trapped in the case might be an indicator   🤢

I'm going to go ahead and say that's a carpet fiber. (Please be a carpet fiber.)

Sounds like Chris thought it was 'carpet fiber' too

This is where a DNA test comes into play...

My first thought too. If there's a follicle still attached we could crack it and send it to Ancestry

It might be fun to have a section on encapsulated Morgans with "debris" in the holder. I am amazed at how much detritus finds its way into PCGS and NGC holders.

I'll go first. Check out the denticles below the "9".

Different holder, and another fiber:

Unless and until encapsulation takes place inside of a "clean room," which ain't gonna happen, you're gonna find and keep finding all sorts of common particulate debris inside of slabs, on occasion..

Was it PCGS or ANACS that had a slabbed cockroach?

I don't think you need a clean room to do a better job in minimizing such junk.

I sent both holders back for a free re-do, citing the junk in the holders. Both were returned in new holders with the junk still present (note the new-style holder).

I sent them back again and specifically asked that they blow off the debris before encapsulation. The third encapsulation was the charm.

That sucks. For all they charge for their service.
