Neat Newp... Peace with severe MD... 34d v3/4 "evil mimic"

Post by CascadeChris » Sun Oct 20, 2019 12:53 am

Well, either this is super severe Machine Doubling / "Die Bounce" or the 34d v3/4 obv was actually a 22 philly with an effaced & repunched date

She pairs well with a similar extreem MD Morgan I picked up from Ash a while ago...

Chris,

It's a different die than the 1934-D VAM-3 & 4 obverse die. If you look at the D in "GOD" and the E in "WE" the doubling is just not there on your coin.

Of course. Just highlighting how similar the profile doubling is. One being machine doubling and the other hub doubling.

NGC called that a 65?
When in doubt... don't.

The photos really enhance some rather minor luster grazes in the focal area, in hand it's on the technical 64 shot 5 line but, yeah, I wouldn't have called it a 5 personally. It may have been dipped prior to sending in and retoned later with a sub-par rinse but even if so you still have a little gunk here and there which reduces eye appeal and for me would most definitely cause me to call a 4 shot 5 a most definite 4.

Yah it's pretty obvious. Cool coin. Do you know what VAM it is?
