Is the collar clash large enough to be listed as a separate VAM?

Details on the coin?

I intentionally omitted details of the coin so as not to create any bias..
And as I don't want to waste Leroy's time, I thought I would ask here first.
I'll allow a little time for others to advise, then reveal the VAM.
Thanks for the input.

What precludes it? Does he treat Morgans differently than peace $ when dealing with collar clashes?

It just looks too weak or faint to be of any interest. Put it in a slab the wrong way, and you don't see it at all. Leroy has the final word. I'd just have to think he'd agree with me here.

John, I sincerely appreciate your input.
I'm not shopping for the answer I want to hear, I'm shopping for intelligent input before wasting Leroy's time.
I think you've helped me accomplish that.

The VAM in question is the 1904-O VAM 46 die pair #1.

On the page Morgan VAMs by Date, the collar clash is visible on the beautifully toned coin.

Trying to get back into the swing of things, and finding I'm a little rusty.
Thanks

Personally, I dont send him collar clashes. To me I now see them in the same way as cracks with minor displaced breaks. If a newbie wants to send one in to make his bones all the more power to him, but, imo, we intermediate to advanced guys shouldn't bother with such nonsense. Just my 2c..

No offence intended. Hey, I was there too. Heck, still kinda am. Once you get to 20 or so discoveries you start to change. The "I need to get this to Leroy, I know it's a new stage" thrill dies down and the more clean & technical line of thinking starts bubbling up. Plus, if you hang around the TDITD guys long enough they start to rub off on you lol.

My mentor may have coined the phrase "die poop."
Not every little change in the die is worthy of a new VAM designation.
But due to personal constraints, I find that an investigation and recording of changes within a die may be useful later.
I guess that is a die study.
It's what I can do, and it's what i share.
Of course I'm a bit looney, but that is why I rely on my VAMworld friends to keep me on the straight and narrow.

I had no idea that a person's knowledge and level of expertise depended on his/her number of discovery/listings...

And this is why there's a "comments" section on every VAM page. Put additional observations there that go beyond Leroy's descriptions that may help you or others in the future. I leave myself notes there all the time, and often they are useful additional markers that will show up in a search, things that differentiate two similar VAMs, or remind me to check other listings.

Kurt, you might find this interesting. I sent a 1902 P to Leroy. I said it had a slanted date and a collar clash. He agreed and made it two VAMS. V29 and V29A. I hope that helps answer your question.

blh74, That is a significant collar clash. Thanks for sharing.

Kurt, I was surprised to get two Vams for one coin.
