A medal done by George Morgan, an undated mint medal issued in 1891. Grant and Grant's Tomb, listed as Julian PR-17

The detail in the portrait is awesome...

Can't find a single 69 nickel with 6 full steps, but leave it to the folks back in 1891 to pull off that beauty :D

The exact mintage is not known but it's somewhere between 150 and 200. Not rare for a medal

I sent the Grant medal to Leroy with other stuff just so he could look at it in hand. He seemed to enjoy it

Gonna use this as the subject of an 'About VAMs' column in the near future. Morgan's rendering of Grant's Tomb differs slightly from the actual monument. There's a story behind it....
