1887 v 25A The Donkey Tail

Post by morganman » Wed Jul 10, 2019 1:34 am

Im a sucker for this one- Couldn't pass on acquiring a very clean/bold ms62 that has a huge
chance to go 63 upgrade. They seem to be held in pretty tight hands in higher grade au58 & ms
Sure seem cheap these days

Some things are hard to photo... like a leprechaun, for example. I have three of those, but I'll be damned if I can get a picture of one. A donkeytail though? That's as easy as:

Why is the Donkey Tail so sought after? I get that it's a neat break but there has to be somehting more. Rarity in higher grades maybe? Is it akin to say the 1900o 29a? I have yet to own one, let alone cherry one.

Nothing captures attention like a catchy nickname. Not super rare, but not common either.

Ah, the good ole Spitting Alligator with a Scar on his Face syndrome.

I remember I was trying to do that with my very first DC I nicknamed the "Drooling Eagle" which you later summarily executed

Chris; I do manage to post terrible flatbed sanner pics to my e bay seller site LOL
So bad that just yesterday a e bay guy- contacted me offering his services to charge
me to do pictures. Like he says; you have great coins with terrible pics.

Even though with it all i manage to sell a shit pot full of coins both online & private
As i dont need the money and a terrible mkt - I am not real motivated to do much
at this point. regards Scott

It would also be a catchy name for a variety if you can find one that fits the part.

A contemporary holder of this coin could have faced summary execution. Huerta's forces didn't take kindly to the 'Death to Huerta' peso.

I can attest to what @morganman is saying about his scanner picts.
I stumbled across some of his bay posts in the past.
Image is of a slab normally to the left of the scanner bed.
It's like looking at a coin from across a 30 foot room!
After seeing it I had the same thought as was offered to him like Scott mentioned.
I would pay for a Geek Squad guy to spend a couple of hours with you Scott.
Know you'd be a pro at it after.
Mike
