Restoration results

Post by DHalladay » Sun Jun 02, 2019 2:29 am

Recently sent PCGS my first ever restoration candidate; it was mailed on April 30. It was a cheap eBay Buy-It-Now that deserved to be cheap because the toning was really quite unattractive. "Yuck" in my book:

Grades were posted May 29 and the coin arrived in today's mail. To say I'm pleased with whatever PCGS did is a HUGE understatement

That's awesome. About a month ago I had it on good authority that PCGS Restoration was backed up to the point of MONTHS. Guess that was either bogus info or they've recently sorted the backlog or whatever out. Nice..

Dennis, did you expect it to grade better before you sent the coin?

I thought the surfaces were nice enough to have a chance. Eye appeal hurt it the first grading, and helped it this time.
When in doubt... don't.

Gorgeous coin. I have a few coins I'd like to send in. This is very motivating. Thanks for sharing your results.

Wow! that's fantastic. I had no idea they would also regrade it. Well done. I can't seem to help it. I just keep learning from this place.. Thanks.

Yessir. Think it's a $5 charge for the resub/regrade for a slabbed coin from the same company.

I still think it is a valid question, or not.

PCGS did the restoration.
