[1887-P VAM-1I ] Clashed Obverse n
Revision by Scott Hamilton, 2010.
1I (revised) III2 I C3a (Clashed Obverse n) (190) I-2 R-5
Obverse III2 I - Clashed die with faint incuse n of In from rev showing next to Liberty head neck. Polishing lines at back of neck. Date in middle of normal lateral position.
Comments:
1- Some 1i will have a triangular die chip between the 2nd and 3rd tail feather, but may not have the die chip on different die states. EDS VAM-1i doesn't show the polishing lines by neck and clash by neck may be very faint.
2- With some searching VAM-1i is relatively easy to find up to MS63 ,but gets harder to find in MS64 or better.
3- DATE POSITION: normal and slanted, very similar to VAM 26/26A, but set higher. Some specimens are known without die chips in 8's.
4- REVERSE: Lightly clashed.
