AOH 1882-O/S VAM-5 EDS in NGC AU... Details >.<

Post by TheYokel » Thu May 02, 2019 4:31 pm

Morning everyone :)

Thought I'd share another of my recent returns. This one was the one I had my eyes on for weeks, and I'm still slightly miffed at it. Such a beautiful coin and easily one of the nicest EDS I've ever seen pictures of (I'm positive you all have had nicer. I said that I've seen  ). Still super happy to have picked it raw and have it in my collection to research and study.

I'll say though... I've searched every area of this thing and the only evidence of any hairlines I can find are under the chin, and they look like deeper scratches than from a light cleaning. None are unidirectional or parallel either. It couldn't have been a rough cleaning or the luster wouldn't be left on it. Yes. I'm miffed lol. Don't be surprised if this thing winds up in a different holder one day lol

Enjoy the pics and have a great day!

Congrads on v5 EDS - Highest i have had is ms63 -I still have a graded 62 and 61 60 58 & so on
Yours is details graded correctly as i see pics- I wouldnt waste $$ on regrade
IMHO. This SELF DEDICATED O/S KING has some 2500 o/s & counting
Unfortunately prices have plummeted, even on EDS and worse yet nobody cares.
I have 3 LDS o/s in ms 65 as well as several v4 EDS which are still expensive if ms
and graded/not details
I cant help myself and continue to pick nice o/s examples both LDS & especially EDS
at these steep discounts. probally die with most of the LDS au's LOL

No disrespect to you, but what do you mean "picked it raw" ? It is slabbed and attributed. Glad to see you are here again.

It's pretty obvious, even from those pics, why they killed it. "Cleaned" is a catchall term not solely specific to hairlines ;) Still a nice pick if it was a cherry tho for sure..

That's my personal collection, lol. I submitted it last year on here. This thread is almost 12 months old :P

Thank you. It's so much nicer through the cloudiness. I was scared to dip it before subbing it. In hindsight... Should have soaked the ol girl lol.
