Re: 1878 series
I have had the opportunity to sit across a table from Larry and discuss VW and Morgans on a number of occasions. I am always amazed at some of the coins he has slid across the table for my viewing and the numismatic knowledge he shares. An amazing guy that I feel very fortunate to have met and I consider him a good friend....... thanks for posting this thread.
Re: 1878 series
Thanks guy's I am still upgrading my set some. Has been fun trip meeting some very nice people over the last 15 to 17 years collecting vams.
We used to have some big lunches in Kansas over the past years.
And we always had a nice bunch of rear vams to share.
Have had another group in St Louis lunches and always had rare vams there also.
Think best time was when we had 2 1889-p vams 23A at group of probably 12 vam people.
Do not know how many of vam guy's know that I lose my wife on Nov 3 2018.
We were married for 55 plus years. She always was interested in my vams.
Was the worst time of my life.
thanks everybody

Re: 1878 series
Larry, my condolences on the news with your wife. I have a brother and sister-in-law that lost their mates in the past year, and their emptyness is indescribable.
But yes, I recall many a fun time in St. Louis at shows and food tables sharing coins and banter. I was there at the table with two V23As. Great memories. Maybe again one day big fella.

Sorry to hear about your wife, Larry. My condolences. I heard stories about the 89 VAM 23As in St. Louis -- being given a dip in iced tea, or was that something else? VAM dinners are a great part of this hobby.

Yes, Crabman, Larry has been the man for rare VAMS. Very good to work with. I own a few coins that slid across his desk to mine.
Deeply sorry about Mrs. Ekins. A loss many cant ever fully understand without experiencing it. I'm 30 years married to a woman who puts up with my VAMs and shows interest if I'm excited
. I couldn't imagine my world without her. She is Breast C free for 12 years. Hug the ones you Love. I dont mean your coins

Larry, I can’t imagine how bad if feels to lose your wife. I have thought of it because my wife has already had breast cancer once, and frequent health problems now. So much of this house is all about her. How empty your house must be without your wife.
I remember our wild dinner at Saint louis. The v23a’s and whatever else we brought. You, Ray, Alan, terry, smitty, me, who else?
