I picked this up this week, an its the first one I have ever seen and looks to be a solid AU-58 /55
VAM-14.1 no clash at all, and not a post polished die pair as well
OHHHH By The Way, if you have an 1878 P VAM 14.1 in the SSDC registry. Please look at your coins, the registry shows a large number of MS coins and the MS-64 and the MS-63 coins look to be VAM-14.1a coins and the VAM-14.1 has no clashing. If you see any counter clashes anywhere on OB or REV your coin is a VAM-14.1a ! The VAM-14.1a is not rare but the no clashed type is far from common, it would be nice if the pop report was accurate.

Re: Well when it rains ir pours 1878 8 tf
THIS is IMPORTANT: PCGS calls all VAM 14.1 and 14.1A, VAM 14.1 so it is VERY likely your VAM 14.1 is a VAM 14.1A. It is not completely your fault if that is the way it is listed in the Registry. It would be really kind if those of you that have 8TF coins go check your listing and get this straightened out.
The VAM 14.1 with no clash is a rarity, not completely unlike the VAM 4A 8Tf is a rarity the other way-the 4A is WITH a clash.
Anyway, check your coins and help us get this straight in the database. THANKS SO MUCH!!

Nice coin; great challenge regarding the registry.
