I can not tally your pitting request in the short term. The time commitment to retrieve them and document your particular request is not available to me right now. Plus, I need to study exactly what you are asking. I am not saying that you have not clearly stated your request. I have not recently studied the pitting in relation to die state.TheYokel wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 6:49 pmOut of that dozen, can you see how many, if any, show the pimpling on the reverse? I'm trying to work out If it's just something LVA didn't note down, or if it's a signature of die age.
And yessir lemme go see what they are using. It's mainly limited to the camera on the phone and not so much the user... But some things might help.

I know I have a complEx.. But would *you* risk it for the biscuit?...

Ant, you're coming along, but SERIOUSLY, STOP SQUINTING SO HARD! You're gonna end up with optical nerve damage! I'm not like some guys, being convinced that there aren't any more clashed E's to be discovered, but if one is found it won't be nearly the struggle to see that you are trying to make it. Take a look at the 1884-S VAM-11a, 1892-CC VAM-2a and 1921-D VAM-1h4 listings. These varieties have all been discovered/listed within the last couple years. You see how much you have to strain to see the listable features on them? Relax and stop trying sooo hard to see something that isn't there. Awesome VAMs are still out there to be discovered without taking a chance at getting a foul listing. And I say this because the last two "clashed E's" to get listed have since been delisted and are still hotly contested. Don't create that kind of situation for yourself. When you find one you don't have to ask about, THEN you found one.
Also, STOP CHANGING THE TITLES OF YOUR DAMNED THREADS!!!

"There are still awesome VAMs..." - yes sir I agree

Only one discovery truly excites me (bar finding a brand new letter transfer)... The rest are definitely interesting, but not quite what peels my banana. There's no discovery monkey I'm trying to get off my back; I have coins I've been *told* to send in on here... I choose not to for now.

Changing the title- Heck I thought I've been doing pretty well containing my enthusiasm these last months.

"You won't have to ask. Stop squinting"- Pfffffft. You should see what i force myself to pass over

I'm beginning to wonder if there is a resolution change happening when i post photos and upload them, and that the pictures I'm looking at are different. Not saying i haven't been wrong 100% of the time thus far... Just that the marks should be easier to see in these photos than people are relaying. They might be wrong, but they aren't invisible. Going to start cropping photos to a standard resolution before uploading to see if it helps...
Ron: "BUY A REAL CAMERA!!!"- Just because I can already hear him typing it....

Have a great weekend y'all. Thanks for putting up with me.

Ant,
I like your enthusiasm.
You think that I'm harsh on you, but it has nothing to do with your enthusiasm. I want you to be excited.
Just try to temper your enthusiasm with careful realistic analysis of your coins. Try not to let your imagination "see" things that aren't there.
Rob has some good advise.

Ant, Google the word "Picteals"... Absorb it then avoid them at all costs

Re: Hmmmmmmmmm.....
That's a bit much. I know he's putting off more than a few people here with his "shotgunning for E's" approach and this darn mega thread that he keeps changing the name of and his incessant need to respond to every thread every 2 minutes but he is doing a pretty good job at learning the general basics. He just needs to slow down, realize this isn't fast-paced Facebook ie just check in here once or twice a day at most, and above all give up on this E nonsense and let this thread die. Other than that he is coming along pretty well. I do fear he will turn too many people off to him before he slows down and learns to crawl which means he will have a hard time trying to find help in the future once he matures if he gets that far.iwillbenice wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 1:35 amThis should be the worst post i have seen about a e that does not exist.

Chris said it the best way possible. Don`t push it too much. At first it was interesting but now it is annoying.

Ant. You may very well be showing remnants of transfer in some cases. In most cases, a remnant is not enough (83O36B) to satisfy an attribution. Sometimes, you just quietly do your own thing until you have a lock. Even with a lock, you might be best to keep it under wraps and be satisfied with your studies. Think about John Robert's 83O 22/36 article. Build a case, find corroborative evidence, be able to tell a story. Then, maybe you share, or maybe you don't.
And yes, Ron's keyboard is audible. Most folks can get the job done to their satisfaction with a cell phone. You are different because you are attempting to reveal subtleties that a cell phone will not handle. In fact, you are studying subtleties that a slab will obscure. Anything less than raw MS is not suitable. For you to continue your pursuit, to your own satisfaction, you may need to make a major investment in optical hardware and shift your studies toward raw MS coins. And, I am sorry to say, keep your findings to yourself or to a dedicated study group. What you are attempting to do is not for everyone and everyone appears to be letting you know about it. There is a difference between VAMming and the study of dies.
