1922 P VAM 1 Something... Funky Olive Branch - Does anyone recognize this? LFCP & other pics added at end
Some of you may be aware that I have been on a silly quest to find a 1922 P VAM 1. I have looked at coins wherever possible and could never find a VAM 1 until last week... or so I thought. Saw a nice looking 1922 P with the B1 reverse on eBay and thought that I hit paydirt. There was absolutely nothing remarkable about it! My quest was over!
It arrived today and I put it under the loupe. Hairlines everywhere... cleaned. Oh, well...it looked like a VAM 1...I could live with that. My 10X loupe I keep at the office coupled with lousy fluorescent lighting led me to put it aside until I got home. I put it under my digital scope and looked at everything carefully. Again, nothing remarkable on the obverse. Flipped it over. Eagle was good... no file lines in the fields... looking better... rays were all pretty plain... could it be??? Olive branch.... NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!1
Not sure what is going on with this olive branch, but it was clearly not right... I think my quest for a plain Jane VAM 1 will continue and this puppy will need to take a road trip to Sidney, OH. Please take a look at these images and let me know your thoughts. Call it a VAM 1 and call it a night or should it go to Leroy?

Ray, have a look at V40, and see if it has the gouge between BE and if leg feathers are doubled as well. The olive leaves are dbl'd for sure.......
Great pics, by the way!

Thanks, Jody. It does not look like VAM 40, but I can't rule it out. Olive branch doesn't match. I do having doubling of the rays below ONE, but ONE is not doubled. I may have to send this to VSS for confirmation.
In any event, it is clear that my search for a VAM 1 will continue.

@messydesk, I don't have the supplement and the plate photos on the page are not helpful. Does this look like VAM 40 to you? To me, the branch doesn't seem to be a match, but the plate photo doesn't show the entire branch.
Thanks
Thanks

The doubling does not look like VAM 40 according to the picture in the Wonders book. The lower inside leaf (11th leaf counting clockwise from top left) is indicated to have doubling on the left side. Other features are not illustrated.
