Whatcha think boys? Real or phantom?

I'll hopefully have it in hand by the end of the week to find out. Let's take opinions and see what happens...

My vote would be for a phantom E, but I can see why you would take the chance.

I'm hoping it's deeper in person (giggity)... The eyeball on the leaf gives me hope :)

Hedging your bets. I can respect it ;)

Not hedging at all, Ant. I really don't think it is an E clash. I hope for your sake that I am wrong, but I understand taking the risk. I do it all the time (usually with bad results) on possible unlisted die breaks on Peace Dollars. If you swing for the fences, you are going to whiff a lot, but when you do connect, it is awesome (or so I would believe!). Good luck with this. Looking forward to hopefully hearing some good news once you get it in hand. A new E clash would be huge.

Ant: No offense take on this end. While I do believe that you will be disappointed, I would have done the same thing as you. You have to take that shot. I've looked at this a number of times comparing it against known E clashes and it looks like it might be the real deal. Crossing my fingers for you. If this is a new E clash, it would be a very big deal.

I believe you will be disappointed. There have been way to many folks for way too many years looking for the next clashed E. But if you are correct, it would be a major champagne moment.

I will say this also, only because I can. I have a personal policy of not posting photos on this site of if-come coins until I have them in hand. I do not believe in the what-if game with auction photos.

Please do not take that the wrong way. This is not the first time anyone has posted the what-ifs before getting a coin in hand. The anticipation can be overwhelming.

I guess it is time to resurrect the Clashed E Scorecard. Use it at your own risk.

Definitely saving that! Thank you! Strangely enough i actually have my own checklist of marks I'd been making based off my 1891-O to look for. That's how this came about...

(And i can see 10 of those boldly prominent on the coin. MM clash, wheat leafs, and the M clash can't be seen clearly. Why did you do this to me?! )

The Clashed E Scorecard has not been posted in a while. It is buried in old posts however. I posted it again for any "newbies" that have not seen it, and not just for you, but you prompted me to.

That being said, it is only a table filled out by a VAMmer based on his own observations. In past posts, others have taken exception with some of the stuff in the table. That is okay, as we can be bipartisan here. It is only intended to be a guide, as many things are on this site.

I totally understand trying for this one.
I have only one question.
Does it have the obverse clash above the cap?

I honestly can't tell until it's in-hand... There's certain details bleached out in the pictures. :(

At this point all i can do is anxiously wait. :)

So, in the chart, what does X mean; what does W mean?

I was assuming "W" meant that the detail was Weak... But we know what assuming does to someone..

How bizarre is it that the 91-O v1a only scores a five?!?!
