1887 VAM-1M, Looking for Confirmation
I'm taking a break from the Darkside, but only temporarily; having lots of fun there in Peaceland. However, examining an 1887 Morgan, I think I've zeroed in on VAM-1M Threadlike Impression Wing. The stock photo on VM is difficult for me to identify the threadlike impression. What I am seeing on my coin is a short, wormlike impression in the gap between the third and fourth outer right wing feathers -- it starts at the wing edge and worms its way through the gap then turns up into the crevice in the fourth feather.

The more I look at the VW 1M Page photo the more I think I’ve got a different thread impression on my coin.

Check for vam 1j
Re: 1887 VAM-1M, Looking for Confirmation
It is not V1J. Would you post a shot of bust tip to 1 of date right side up and straight on.
Re: 1887 VAM-1M, Looking for Confirmation
Check VAM 10. date looks right and the chip in the first 8 looks right.
Here is a shot of my VAM 10 EDS.

Re: 1887 VAM-1M, Looking for Confirmation
Thanks for quick responses. I did some sloppy VAM detective work here. I'll post the right side up bust tip photo later today and finish looking at the remainder of VAMs, especially VAM-10. In the meantime, here's are full obverse and reverse shots.
There is a horizontal threadlike impression on my coin in the third-fourth outer wing feather gap as previously noted, but it doesn't match the apparent vertical threadlike impression on the 1M page. Other diagnostics also different.
Curious...the 1M was assigned an R-5 probably at discovery as is the protocol; however, there are only two known to exist since 2013. I know rarity is a moving target and generally unreliable, but there are lots of eyes looking at 1887 Morgans. If only two 1M Morgans, then this coin must be rarer and more desirable than the I-2, R-5 would indicate.

Re: 1887 VAM-1M, Looking for Confirmation
It is not a VAM 1M. Date placement is all wrong. It is a VAM 10.
