Thanks Tom. The radial die break on reverse from rim across C (PEACE) deserves mention within the VAM heading description. IMO

Most 1923S dollars are poorly stuck, hence the huge price jump between MS 64 & MS 65.
Your coin has an obverse rim cud above R of LIBERTY, indicating that it a very scarce LDS specimen.
I would like to see the discovery coin for VAM 1AG to see if it has the die crack - the difference being a revision vs a new subvariety listing.

Searching my inventory turned up another 1923 S VAM 1AG in an ANACS holder 5419001 graded MS 63 .davidkclose wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 1:14 amMost 1923S dollars are poorly stuck, hence the huge price jump between MS 64 & MS 65.

This specimen displays weak die crack at C (PEACE) visible only under a loupe and normal, intact rim above R of LIBERTY. Would this earlier die stage help on the revision/new subvariety listing possibility?

That’s close to what he’s looking for yes
Please post pics of all the cracks
Are there 2 discernible clashes still?

ANACS information concerning the label on this 1923 S VAM 1AG AU 55 sent to me over the internet has proven to be INCORRECT. In fact, after picking up my order today 6-15-23, the ACTUAL LABEL reads 1923 S VAM 1AG AU 55 STRUCK THRU GREASE.RogerRock wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:27 pmANACS reported their grade and label on this specimen today 6-7-23 as 1923 s VAM 1AG WEAKLY STRUCK AU 55
I would disagree with the "WEAKLY STRUCK" description. In fact, weak strikes are caused by insufficient die approximation and abnormally low ram pressure. Reeding will be weak/absent from a weak strike. Design rim will be incomplete/absent from a weak strike. The edge will be weakly struck and narrow from a weak strike. Obviously, as above photos illustrate, this specimen does not have weak/absent reeding or incomplete/absent design rim or a weak narrow edge. Furthermore, peripheral design lettering, radial die break, etc. exhibit above average definition in details !!
Comments welcome concerning the nature of the striking error on this 1923 s VAM 1AG Peace Dollar.
It should be noted that I previously described this striking error as STRUCK THRU GREASE on my submission form and during this forum discussion.

No
The rim and reeding is normal on this Peace Dollar. Peace dollars usually show a more pronounced shoulder and narrow reeding centered on the edge.
